Hey bolsters- When I got this 53’ GMC dump truck, it already had an electric fuel pump wired in under hood.
So I assume the mechanical pump failed at some point.
I am doing some other engine repairs right now and figured if I could delete the electric pump it would be nice to have the original setup work. If feasible.
Here are a couple pictures of it. It has four threaded ports? The glass fuel bowl has two ports on either side… That would be obviously in/out.
But what are the two fittings on other end for? They actually have vacuum and pressure when manually operating pump lever.

That's the fuel/vacuum pump. I'd like to have one, but they're kind of hard to find. Top ports with the glass bowl are for fuel and the bottom ports are for vacuum. Helps keep the wipers going when the throttle is mashed down. Probably found on big truck with vacuum operated 2 speed rear axles as well. You can get a repair kit (if needed) from Then and Now Automotive.

Consider either keeping electric pump or get yours rebuilt. I bought (and returned) 6 bad fuel pumps in a row. I gave up and went electric. Hopefully you have better luck than I did!
Virtually all modern fuel pumps are junk right out of the box. Brand name makes no difference.
I had two modern pump fail and then had Then and Now rebuild my mechanical pump. So far it's worked for 4 or 5000 miles without a problem.

Ok…. Kl hanney.. I got the rebuild kit from then and now automotive for My fuel pump/vacuum pump. Kit was awesome and their YouTube video with very detailed instruction was superb!! Loved doin business with them.!! Very standup company and give them an AAA+! Anyhow, pump is ready for reinstall as soon as I can order new cam and lifter set. Thanks for the connection . Brian
