My 51 has a recirculaing heater, which has the control lever that you rotate right for defrost, and left for floor heat. Looks like there is supposed to be some type of bushing where the shaft goes onto the heater case and mine is missing causing the shaft to have a lot of play, and won't stay in position for floor heat. Was wondering what folks have used for this bushing. See attached for example.
Also, is the decal for heat / defrost available at one of the vintage parts dealers?
I'm pretty sure I've seen the decal on Jim Carter's website or The Filling Station.
You might find a rubber grommet that fits tightly enough to hold the lever in place.

Jim Carter definitely has the decal for the defrost lever. I have one for my heater. They have the center emblem for the heater also.
The bushing for the defrost shaft is just a rubber grommet. You can probably find one of the right size at your hardware store. Mine was half rotted away, but was enough there to figure out what it should be.
