Has anyone done a gear change from stock to 3.55:1 on their pickup? I m reading about it a bit on fillingstation.com where they sell a set. Just curious and wanted to know if any successful swaps.

I did on a 47 and a 48. I did not actually do the work. I bought the parts and took it all in to a rear end shop. Stinky, dirty, nasty job that requires bigger tools than I have. Let others do what they do and I do what I do. Works well for me. The change is worth it and it is also a very good time to change the bearings and seals.

Did this on my '46 1/2 ton years ago. Bought me about 10mph on the top end. I'm like Twin Jimmys, though, I paid someone to do it back in 1995. Makes the truck much more driveable.
