My truck slow cranking on the 850cca that I have starts right up with a 12 volt. Any suggestions

Assuming the 850cca battery is in good shape, I'd make sure that ...
1. The battery positive cable is corrosion free on both ends and is 00 wire size. 2. The battery negative cable is corrosion free on both ends, is attached to the engine (one of the starter bolts is best) and is 00 wire size.
If that doesn't resolve your slow crank problem the next step is replacing the starter switch.

The reason the 12V battery works is because of the higher voltage overcoming a high resistance connection somewhere in the circuit. With the 6V battery, you're not getting 6V at the starter, but with a 12V battery it sounds like at least 6V is getting to the starter. The high resistance connection could be anywhere in the circuit, including the ground between the engine and battery.
BTW, you can edit your signature to include your truck info so we know what you're working on. If your truck is a 62, it should have a 12V battery.

You didn't say what year your truck is, but if it is 6 volt it didn't come with a solenoid.

You have problems with your battery cables, electrical connections, starter, or all three.
My truck's 216 spins over with a 500cca 6v battery as fast as any modern car.

We just need Bird man to come back and tell us what he's tried.
