Does anyone know if anyone makes a 6 volt 1000cca battery that would fit in a 1952 battery are of a 1962 chevy 3/4 ton pickup. My truck slow cranking on the 850cca that I have starts right up with a 12 volt. Any suggestions

I don't understand your "would fit in a 1952 battery are of a 1962 chevy 3/4 ton", but ....

Assuming the 850cca battery is in good shape, I'd make sure that ...

1. The battery positive cable is corrosion free on both ends and is 00 wire size.
2. The battery negative cable is corrosion free on both ends, is attached to the engine (one of the starter bolts is best) and is 00 wire size.

If that doesn't resolve your slow crank problem the next step is replacing the starter switch.

Thank you but if I put 12 volt battery in it starts right up. Are you talking about the step on button that pushes and connects solenoid on starter

A higher CCA 6V battery won't help. The reason the 12V battery works is because of the higher voltage overcoming a high resistance connection somewhere in the circuit. With the 6V battery, you're not getting 6V at the starter, but with a 12V battery it sounds like at least 6V is getting to the starter. The high resistance connection could be anywhere in the circuit, including the ground between the engine and battery.

BTW, you can edit your signature to include your truck info so we know what you're working on. If your truck is a 62, it should have a 12V battery.

Not the button you put your foot on, the button on the top of the starter that the other end of that linkage presses on.

You didn't say what year your truck is, but if it is 6 volt it didn't come with a solenoid.

Your slow turning starter/engine has nothing to do with your battery's cca rating.

You have problems with your battery cables, electrical connections, starter, or all three.

My truck's 216 spins over with a 500cca 6v battery as fast as any modern car.

I think we have a consensus that he needs to check the circuit connections or the starter. We just need Bird man to come back and tell us what he's tried. ohwell

My 6v trucks use 2 gauge battery cables (and ground straps).

My 6+ year old Optima Red Top 6V Battery starts the 261 engine with no problems:

"1 Group Size, 800 CCA, 1000 CA, 100 Minute Reserve Capacity, High Power Delivery"

Sold by Amazon and many other suppliers (like Pep Boys)..
