Would any of these spots be a decent place for lift points. 2 Bell housing holes, side hole, or the 3/8ths threaded holes by distributer.use (2) 3/8ths rod or bolts. Anything on dampener/balancer end?

Here's what I did on my 216. You could use a simple piece of angle iron with a hole for your hoist hook in the middle.

Or just about any decent size threaded hole to connect a chain to. I used the generator adjusting bracket and the stomp starter linkage hole on the right side of the bell housing when I pulled it from the chassis, but needed a ratchet strap on the driver's side to level it up.

If one pulls straight up on the valve cover bolts, use a spreader bar to make sure straight up, that works well.

Leave the rocker arms off and bolt two pieces of angle iron directly to the cylinder head. That's a 3/8-16 thread, and there will be little if any side load on the bolts. A jackscrew leveler like the one in the photo above is a very good idea for leveling the engine as it approaches the mounts.
