Picked this up at auction. Just wondering if anyone is using these or is it scrap?

Well, they're durable, they only shift once, they aren't exactly light and they are not cheap to have rebuilt. But I hear bracket racers like them, so I wouldn't say it was scrap. I had one for a while in the 60s. It was okay...just needed another couple of gears.

That is an early one, cast iron, torque tube application, likely 50-54 car. There may be some interest in it for someone
restoring an original car. Racers use the later aluminum case version.

I rebuilt many of those when I was a high schooler. They are made way better than anything is now.
Won't find any corrugated tin cans for clutch drums in them.

Kicking self for selling off my Taskforce trucks.
Still looking for an LCF or conventional big bolt in decent shape.

Be aware that the adapter ring between the trans and the engine block is factory indexed to the crankshaft centerline. If you swap it to a different engine, it takes a special crankshaft adapter fixture and a dial indicator, plus some offset dowel pins, to assure that the torque converter runs concentric with the crankshaft. It's not as critical as the alignment of the torus on a Hydramatic, but it's still a good idea to check the runout.
