Borrow a harmonic balancer puller from your local auto parts store. It'll have an assortment of bolts in the kit to do the job. O'Reilly, Advance and Auto Zone have these for free loan.

WHAT!!!? You don't have a collection of bolts of various sizes that you could fit in there to check? What kind of a Stovebolter are you anyway?
If it's a 216, then it would be 3/8 coarse thread. But a 216 only has two threaded holes and lugs for a hand crank, so that's not it. But if the engine is similar vintage, it's probably the same thread size.

The engine he is working on is a later 250 I-6 and I am pretty sure George (Wrenchbender Ret.) hit the nail on the head for needed bolt size and thread.

Yes it’s a 3/8 th fine thread. I picked up the puller from Advanced but, the bolt was 4 inch & only had 2 in the set. So tomorrow I’m heading to the Hdw store and buy 3 two inch length ones. Should h get R off! 😎I do have bunches of nuts & bolts around but not what I needed this time! Thanks!

Word of caution: when installing puller bolts to damper be sure they are short enough not to make contact with the timing cover, it's easy to ruin a timing cover.

The 194/230/250/292 series engines use 3/8-24 threads on the balancer. Do yourself a big favor and chase the crud out of the threads with a tap before attempting to thread bolts into them. Jerry
