Is there a simple upgrade/modification to the existing suspension to improve the ride? Not a Mustang II swap or anything that drastic. Just some minor mods or changes? I am just looking to improve the ride a little. Has anyone used Delrin Leaf Spring Liner with Lip between leaves? Does it make a noticeable improvement? Anything else I can do? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,274 Renaissance Man | | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,274 | My best advice would be for you to disassemble, inspect, adjust, every moving part of the entire chassis front to back. Replace all worn parts. You will be surprised how well these trucks handle and ride once the entire suspension is restored to as-new condition. Spring pins and bushing. King pins. Steering box. Tie rods. Drag link. Wheel bearings. Adjust toe in. New tires. (I recommend radial tires.)

One thing in addition was to remove the front springs, take them apart, clean each leaf on a wire wheel and install a liner between the leaves. The result of the above is a 3/4 ton ‘51 truck that rides and drives great. Understand, it’s not a new “today “ truck but it’s much better than its likely been since it had that 1st few thousand miles under its belt 72 years ago. Spring upgrade.RonR
