Hello Everyone;

I don't know if this is the right place to post things like this, but I will probably find out if there is a more appropriate spot.

As I mentioned, I teach Automotive Mechanics courses on the side, for Homeschooled kids. I just want to brag on them a bit.

The first engine that we rebuilt is a '56 261. It was usually used in trucks and school busses, but only in Canada, it was also used in the Pontiac Laurentian.

I thought that I would post a couple of pictures.

Incidentally, my youngest student was a 9 year old girl (2 months from her 10th birthday). She is an absolute genius. She was so tiny, my wife had to make her a set of coveralls. The picture shows her doing the Ridge Reaming.

MOD EDIT: Moved from the "Driveline" forum

Is it legal to have so much fun?

Is that the factory color scheme for the Canadian Poncho? That's the best looking color combo on any engine I've seen.

Hello Otto.

Yes, it is called Alpine Blue (even though the hue in the shop light makes it look almost green). Maybe I can post a picture of the parts pre-assembly.

The yellow Rocker Cover was an option, but it often came bare metal.

Walter,

Have moved these posts about the "261" over to the Engine Shop as that is the proper place for the topic.

Will edit the title accordingly.

Thanks for sharing. thumbs_up

That's pretty cool. So GM Canada didn't bother changing the engine paint scheme when they put it in the truck? Four different colors looks great.

Well done to you & your class!
It's great that they have interest in engines in their devlopment years!
Are you going to make it run?

Nothing like a freshly painted engine. Looks great!
