good morning,
the last time i removed a trans from my 38 was about 15 years ago. i have to take my trans to the shop, it wont go into 1st and 3rd. they will check it out, but i need to remove it

car is jacked up on all four with jacks
i split the yoke
removed e brake assembly to allow it to drop and speedo cable
removed bolts that hold trans to cross member
took off 4 bolts from trans to bell housing
per the manual there are two top trans to clutch housing screws and two lower ones, it was getting dark and we stop due to my bad eyes, doensy anyone have a pic of these two where they are located?

thanks in advance!

Check out this page on Transmission removal instructions from the 1938 Car and truck Shop Manual (upper left section of the page).

Although it doesn't clearly say it, the lower 2 bolts that hold the transmission to the bell housing are accessed by removing the bell housing under panel. The bolts actually are installed from the bell housing side into the transmission case from front to back of the vehicle.

Would definitely recommend you install the noted "pins" in the top mounting holes to support the weight of the transmission while you remove the lower bolts, then slide the transmission back off the pins to remove.

Be safe sir! thumbs_up

Dan
