Looking for suggestions for a HVLP gun that will shoot all types of PSPC with interchangeable tips. Air pressure and air volume are not a problem as the compress in a Ingesoll Rand 80 galleon 2 stage. With 1" line sets.

Please help us a bit...PSPC? Are you talking about protective coatings? Ballast tanks or ship hulls, maybe? Bridge coatings? Industrial coatings?

PSPC was taken from the Stovebolt Tech Tips discussing paint gun basics, Primer/Sealer/Paint/Clear.
I found that section to be an outstanding source of info.

Ah, completely different then. I bought a gun at English Paint & Color Supply (a supplier of paint and supplies to body shops and pro painters here) that has worked well for me. The make is Vaper and the model is 19000. Not expensive at all...maybe $60 before my discount there but that was 2 or 3 years ago. It came with a 1.4mm tip which works very well with single stage or double stage paints, clears and primers although for epoxy primer or heavy lacquer primer I generally use an old Binks gun with a 1.8mm tip or an older Binks copy with a 2.0mm tip and lower the pressure to get a higher build quicker. Generally I only use single stage hardened paint (catalyzed) and I may or may not put a clear on top. Color coat/clear coat is the favorite of many folks but I'm not in that group. You may get a whole lot of varying opinions on this, Red. Some folks get really particular about spray guns, but I've learned (and I've only been painting things for 50+ years, so I'm still learning) that the gun matters terrifically less than the person using it and more importantly adjusting it. With that Vaper gun I use about 30 psi or so...a bit less than that in hotter weather...maybe as low as 25 psi. With the older Binks maybe 35 psi. Hope that is helpful.

The Devilbiss Starting Line kit has always worked well for me for general paint work. When I needed a little better atomization, I picked up the Black Widow from Harbor Freight and it does just fine. Likes a little more air pressure than what the paint manufacturers require. I was just using my Starting Line primer gun this morning.

A good all-around gun (and fairly inexpensive) is 3M's Accuspray that comes in a kit with an assortment of tips all the way from 1.2 - 2.0. The PPS (Paint Preparation System) paint cup supplies are a little spendy, but for the hobbiest, the cleanup is a snap, and replacement tips aren't that much money if you don't get them completely clean. But that takes only a few ounces of solvent sprayed thru the nozzle, so no gun washer is needed. Everything in contact with the paint except the needle is disposable, and that's easy to keep clean. I bought their gun that takes the original PPS cups, but you could also buy their 2.0 system which is more common now. A bit less than $300 for all you need to get started. Accuspray 2.0 HVLP gun
