Many (if not most) states titled these trucks with the engine number rather than the door post ID number.

No inspection required, just proof of insurance and a good title. They didn't check any numbers on the truck. The tags also don't have to be renewed unless you get the custom tags. The drawback is I had to go to the Truman building in jefferson City to get it done and I am limited on how many personal miles I can drive it each year.

I do know that when I brought my 47 3/4 ton into Nebraska (from Missouri), and a 1963 1/2 ton (from California) and a 1967 Ford (from Kansas), all they looked at was the cab plates. My 47 was missing the plate so I had to get another before the "inspection". I stamped the number on the title into the plate - it din't match the motor, but MIGHT have matched the original cab. I THINK the 63 also had the number hand stamped above the driver's door, in the frame. | | | | Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 9 Junior Member | Junior Member Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 9 | OK Thank you because that would save me a lot of trouble not having to put the old engine back in | | | | Joined: Nov 2000 Posts: 1,927 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2000 Posts: 1,927 | 53cheevy - red 58 asked if the VIN on the title matches the serial no on the body or the engine?? A 53 3100 VIN/body no will start H53....A 53 engine number will start LBA...Good luck.
