The body and frame, but also most specifically the cab. I have found one for parts locally, but not sure what all will interchange. thanks in advance

This document can provide you a whole bunch of useful information to learn about your truck. There are also a great number of other references in our own Stovebolt Tech Tips that you can read about various topics on your truck, as well as other sources outside of Stovebolt which folks will share as you begin asking more detailed questions about your truck and the things you need help with. One of the best suggestions I can offer is to ask more detailed specific questions (instead of an overall general topic) with posts in the Shop Area Forum where the topic best fits. This helps reduce confusion and redundant topics/questions and allows folks to provide you better specific answers and help. Take some time and read through this resource and peruse the various Tech Tips and forums to get a little more familiar with the site. Then come back and ask away. Once again, Welcome to Stovebolt! The 3600 frame is basically straight back whereas the 3100 frame flares wider as it goes back. It makes a big difference if you are looking to mount a fuel tank between the frame rails behind the rear axle. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2022 Posts: 2,466 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2022 Posts: 2,466 | This is a GMC answer (I don't have the correct Chevy books) to the "most specifically the cab" part of 327AMC's question. I think the raw cab is the same between the Chevys and GMC of your era.
1950 GMC Master Parts Book lists different part numbers for 100 (1/2 ton), 150 (3/4 ton) and 250 (1 ton) cabs. Unfortunately I don't know what the difference is, but I doubt that GM would have had separate part numbers if they could have used just one.

My cab is a 6400(15,000 gvwr) with a title. The 5 window cab I bought with the project had a severe cave in on top. Found another 5 window that's the 6400. The hood and inner/outer fenders are the only difference. Doors only vary with or without wing windows, but fit in the space. Windows all around are identical. GMC's have different grill, but most is the same is what research has told me.

The 4400 would have a hole in that cover for the 4 speed floor shifter and the hand brake.
