Some of you may have seen this on OldGMCtrucks forum but in case you haven't I thought I'd post it. This is a mate's W624, ex US military possibly from Guam or the Marshalls. Very low miles by our reckoning and possibly the only one in Australia. Barry has got another cab for it from the US as the original one has lost the plot!

Hope this works:

There is an exUSAF exEngland RHD restored example in the Robertson Collection (170 trucks) in Invercargill in New Zealand, just across the pond. It's the only RHD GMC big bolt from that era that I have ever seen.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe this one, is also right hand drive.

Wow, good spotting Spanky. It is too. So that's two RHD GMC's that are about. Figured since it was in the Pacific it might have stayed LHD.

Hey,Andy;
Cool truck-built for work,huh?
I like the grille guard-I'm gonna build one for my Mack from 2 inch square tubing. Haven't decided yet whether to extend it to protect the headlights or not. I kinda think that'd clutter up the lines of the truck,so probably not.

The RHD conversion is pretty crude. They just turned the steering box upside down and bolted her on. All of the guages are still on the left side so Barry is planning to change her back to a left hooker.

We don't know how much work she did in Australia, if any, but someone at least went to the effort to convert her to RHD so she might have done a bit of work.

Cheers
