A friend of mine just picked up a coe, he said it is a chevy, 41 or 42 and he says it has a factory or after market 4x4, i hope to see it soon. I have never heard of a 4x4 coe, did they exist? I will have pictures when I get to see it. Dave

Maybe I will try to get out to his place today and get pictures, if true it would be a very rare truck. Dave

That would be an ex-military truck if it was factory built, Chevrolet never made civilian 4x4 COE's back then, they were all installed by outside vendors.

I took the pictures but it would not let me post them. I believe it was military, it has some traits of a 41 and some of after 41. The passenger door handle has the lock in it but the rear window is like the after 41. The lower grill had no stainless trim and I don't think it ever had any, some openings, one looked like it was for the steering. The dash was quite different than a stock 41-46, in the center of the dash was a guage that said something about fire apparatus. The windshield had the hinges on the outside and hinged holders on each side inside with thumb screws to lock it in position. I was thinking it might have the same drivetrain as the chevy 6x6.

Looks military. They made them in firetruck configurations, but most produced were long wheelbase flatbeds to carry antenna equipment. In Alaska I would imagine there would be more in the antenna transporter configuration. Differentials were factory eaton "banjo" same as on the more "common" G506 trucks.

They look rather gangly, but in a cool way! I bet it is fun to drive.

Seems like some sort of mismatch with the passeneger door lock and the 1942-46 back window. I beleive the COE had a tachometer on the dash. Does it have civilain style gauges? Early 1941 WW2 trucks had some civilain pieces.

Chevy never produced a 6x6, that would be GMC.

Cool find, thanks for sharing!

The guages are not civilian there is a tach. There is a fitting with a light in it to shin3 down on the guages. There was a pressure guage dead center in the dash that said something like fire apparatus.

The Olive Green paint sure suggests military. As well as the military style tire on the LF.

Cool truck.

Dave, If you want to send me the pics, (you have my phone # & e-mail right?) I can help by posting them here.

Has to be military, there are no holes in the hood or grille shell for the stainless steel trim!
