Should be a 292. "F" Flint Michigan plant D180 April 18, 1970 ? Someone will come along and confirm this? Are you sure on head number? Is the "3" 843 an "8"? If it's "848" that is a 235 head. If the valve cover is off what date code is the head? Letter followed by numbers like D180 Is your fuel pump mid engine and not towards the front? I believethat is how the 292's are.. If the engine is a 292 I don't think a 235 head will run on it? Experts will be by to confirm. Does the engine run??
Not intending to offended anyone but many clues it not a 292, 6 volt starter, side cover, threaded vacuum line connection to dist., etc. No captain's bars visible in view near starter as a 261 would have.
My 2 cents: 1962 235 Is the fan centered with the radiator or does it sit high? If it is above center it won't cool well, however one of are fine members, pre 68 dave makes a adapter to solve that issue.

p.s.things correct in this post: block cast looks like April 18, 1962, also a Jerry pointed out, fan will sit too low. So hot here today I can't tell up from down!

A 1962 235 engine in a 1951 truck will have the fan sitting too low on the radiator, not too high. Dave's adapter plate allows the 216 and early 235 water pump to be used on the later model engines (1955-62) and position the fan correctly. The mid-year change of body styles in the 1955 trucks, and a similar shape change in the 55-up passenger car front end sheet metal required a relocation of the water pump. Jerry
