You could always change to larger tires. 11 R 22.5 are pretty tall. That'll speed you up.
As long as you don't carry any water (I'm assuming this is for show) you'll be fine. At that time, thetruck brakes were somewhat questionable. We're still running the original 2 speed rearend setup. We don't carry water either as I'm not sure it would support all that weight on the 261 motor.
