The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop Floor pans in my coe

I am about to start on my 41 chevy coe. My plan is to put it on a 2001 chevy 3500 cutaway van chassis, it has an 8.1 engine. The floor pans have some issues with rust but I think I may have to replace the entire floor to accommodate the engine. If it comes to this happening what kind of bracing would I have to put in place to insure things fit when I'm done? Dave

Dave, what you might consider is building a floor framework out of angle iron (maybe 1x1x1/8) that fits the engine /trans configuration and then cut out the floor panels and fabricate new to fit the framework. The angle framework should hold the cab in the right shape.
Are you planning on keeping the original finish with the lettering on the doors? I think that would be a cool rig. Although it is kind of faded out, it would be cool to have that old lettering on the doors (maybe reproduced, if nothing else.)

Thanks Kevin, I may try the angle framework. I have to mock up the 2 on a temp basis to see if I can even leave the engine in the original location.
I have thought about the lettering but not decided as of yet. My first thought and most likely will be to paint it exactly the same as my 41 and 47 pickups.

I hope this works,I attached 2 photos. It did! In the second photo you can see the alterations that were made to put that HUGE axle under the 1 1/2 ton truck. The first photo has the cab ready for my friend to liftoff with his tractor.

Man, that's some scary steering linkage.
