I picked up my 1967 GMC 7500 a few months back. A project for me and my dad to build one more truck while he still feels up to it. We have never tackled a project of this size and until looking at the truck I hate to admit I had never heard of the GMC magnum v6 engines. I am so glad we took up this project it has been a task (aided by information on these forums) to find parts. We have slowly tracked down everything and have the old girl running like a champ. The sound of these old motors is just flat out great and I am in love. I thought this was going to be a long term project but due to circumstances beyond my control (corporate BS) I am now unemployed and taking a few months off. Spend time with my first granddaughter and decide if I'm done being a trucker. It also gives me the time and money to go full speed ahead on my old girl. A few pictures of when I first got her to present. Will be posting updates as we go.

Had to add this. I still had a old cedar post from a shed my grandfather had built. I took a small chunk and made me a shift knob.

They made a V12 version of that engine. Basically two V6 engines end-to-end. Here's a picture of a fancied-up one. Goooooogle "Blastolene B-702"

Bamafan ... If you have any thoughts of converting it to a tilt hood, you should send me a PM ...

Great truck!

They also made a 637 V-8. We have one in our 9500 ladder truck.

Well swapped out the factory pipes to 3 inch stainless today with short Cherry bombs. When we get the bed all lined up she will be getting 3 inch chrome stacks.

Looks good. I once had a '67 7500. Came with a Toro-Flow Diesel and they changed it to a 6V-53 Detroit before I bought it.

You have an interesting truck. Never seen a 7500 with Hydraulic Brakes before.

The 401 sounds great. I've had the smallest (305) and the largest (478), but never anything in-between. Also used to drive a 9500 with a 637 V-8 Gas.

Keep us posted on your progress.

Finally got the dash all wired up new steering wheel and insulation laid down in floorboard. Made my dash bezel to match the door panels and strip on glovebox. Had to redo latches on battery box door. She's coming along nicely.

Really making headway. Going through replacing all the wheel cylinders, all brake lines have been replaced. Cut the frame and shortened her up. Picking up my driveshaft in the morning. Lots of small odds and ends to tie up but my vision I have had in my head is really coming through now.

Brakes are finally done front and rear working like a charm. Got old girl on the road the other day she drove great shifted good. Project is really coming along nicely. Should be ready for paint this week or next. Been a nightmare at times but also has been my favorite build of all. Dad and myself have done most of the work with help here and there from my son in law and father in law. Really great memories have been made.

Got a lot done today getting the bed sat on and finally got all the extra crap cut off the front end to mount the bumper. Love days like this when it all falls into place.

Well got to do the first cruise in last night in chickamauga Ga. Had a really great time the old 7500 really stood out so many great reactions. The kids really loved it we lost count of all of them wanting pictures with the truck it really brought a smile to our faces. Lol I may need to paint it yellow and put Tonka on the sides! Can't wait till the first car show Aug 19th in Rinngold Ga. Hopefully some other bolters in the area will be there. Lot of little items to tie up before then but it has been a awesome build
