I installed the following rear turn signal lamps many years ago. I have a friend with a ‘52 who wants to install a couple lamps and is searching for options.
What have you guys done?

My truck had "Mickey Mouse ears" up on the cab. Didn't like them at all, so they'll not be going back on. It was a road construction truck, though, so I can understand the concept.
Offered as a "don't do this" example.

Eventually I'll upgrade, but work really well in the meantime. Quick, easy and simple. Readily available.

cmayna I use metal lights with 1157 (12volt) bulbs, with a 7 wire guide turn signal switch it only takes 3 wires to the rear of the truck. That is turn signals, tail lamps, stop lights . Can also have 3-bar cluster like a ton or bigger truck has.
I have some common running lights I've used for...maybe 40 years. Amber lenses. I saw one in NM that had installed what looked like bright amber LED lights in the round rolled part of the bed (really easy to see...at eye level). However some LEDs don't like to flash without adding some resistance.

It is a pair of vintage road flares "smudge pots". Near the gas filler neck is a set of 3 vintage reflectors that fold out for road side usage. Vintage brass locks keep them secured in place.
