Does anyone know if there is an "off the shelf" system available? Otherwise I've got to drive my vehicle with no exhaust system quite a few miles to a muffler shop after I'm done. Not a pretty idea.
Thanks again.

I figure I would loosen all the bolts with KROIL days in advance. Retighten them and drive with my new manifold and gasket still in the box to the muffler shop. Installation in their parking lot should be easy and you should only need a ratchet...

1. The bolt "ears" on a Fenton exhaust headers do not match the thichness of the stock ears. I think you will have to grind down the ears on the Fentons to match the ears on the intake manifold (stock or other).
2. There is a heating outlet hole on each header (2 holes, total) and these will have to be plugged (brass or steel plug). Later on you can decide if you want to use these holes for a source of hot air to warm the intake manifold.
3. You will have to separate the stock intake manifold from the stock exhaust manifold (these bolts do not loosen easily). Will you be using the stock intake manifold and carburetor?
Do you know if the stock intake manifold clears the Fenton headers (Fenton headers and Offenhauser intakes need to be adapted to work together)?
If you mean "off the shelf exhaust system", Jim Carter sells one (regular steel and no mufflers or clamps, $200).

I am using an Offenhauser intake with the Fenton headers. I haven't tried fitting the headers and manifold to the head yet. That's my next project.
Thanks for your advise. I'll check out Carters.

That is, if you aren't happy with what you find a Carters.

Had a friend in Vegas find a good 318. He brought it down and helped me set it in. Well then I had to get it running. Not having dealt with V8 Dodges before I had quite a time. On top of that I had stopped at a camp ground that wanted to do the whole thing, and were having a fight with the only other parts house in town. Anyway, after some creative stuff I got it running. Drove it all the way to Vegas with open pipes. Just coming into Henderson, here came the red lights. Shut down the truck real quick. He said do you know you have a taillight out on the trailer? I said no, thank you I'll get it fixed. Anyway drove it to my buddy's, welded up a set of duals, and wen't on my way. Dennis | | |
