I went to install a new one and found the opening wouldn't let me put a new window in. I am thinking of cutting the glass or heating the metal around the glass and shape it to allow the glass to fit. The opening on one side is different from the other side by about 1/2". The metal does not look damaged. What is the best way to cut it? | | | | | Joined: Oct 2009 Posts: 69 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2009 Posts: 69 | I had the same problem getting a new windshield to fit my 1958 Apache.
I used my local windshield shop. First one would not fit. We eventually compared a scratched original I had to the Chinese reproduction. It was too tall and too wide. Glass shop ordered in replacements. Finally the sixth one came in close on dimensions. A bit of work but finally got it in.
Glass shop guy does a lot of classic cars. He has had problems with bad gaskets as well.
When God gives any man wealth and possessions, and enables him to enjoy them, to accept his lot and be happy in his workthis is a gift of God. He seldom reflects on the days of his life, because God keeps him occupied with gladness of heart. Ecclesiastes 5:19-20 | | |
