The Stovebolt Site Forums The Parking Lot Big Bolts Really new newbie...

I just recently was given a 1965 C60 in rough shape, but not too rough for me to throw away. It has a 292 in it with about 1000 miles on it, 4 speed tranny, 2 speed axle, and a dump bed. As you can see from the pictures, I am in need of glass badly. Will the glass from the regular pick up line fit this truck? How about sheetmetal? Thanks in advance.

Welcome aboard! I love the '65. In response to your questions, the hood, doors, cowl extensions, windshield and windshield cowl pieces, as well as the interior parts are interchangeable between the C10-C30 and the Big Bolts. The front fenders, inner fenders, radiator support, grille and grille supports are not.

Thanks a lot Tony for the fast response. This will be my car hauler and trailer puller when I am done. I want to swap in a Cummins ISX or 610 when the 292 dies and put a rollback on it too.

Looks like I will be ordering a new door and glass real soon then. darn punk kids throwing rocks through the windows.

I have a 65 C50 wrecker that i have been working on for a year. I have been getting parts for the cab in a junk yard off of some C10-20s but 4-5-6- chevy trucks is right on the money about the fenders and such. I had to send to colorado for some used front fenders. have fun searching.

I'm gonna jump in here ahead of John and Peg so they'll leave ya alone, and tell you that the pictures you posted of the truck are just the thing everyone likes to see, but respectfully ask that you read about posting pictures.

We think John and Peg have this old kind of computer system that must be slow as molasses, 'cause they're always harpin on us when we post pictures directly in a thread--takes up too much bandwidth (cain't figger out what any of this had to do with the width of the band on my watch, but what do I know), too slow to load up on the computer for those with the old, reliable phone line connection, and so forth.....

So, please indulge us all and put your pictures in a free picture-posting site, and tell us all what the name of the link is. That way, John can keep chasin' bees and Peg can keep busy doin' important things like puttin' stuff in the Gallery.

You can get all the help you need right here at the Stovebolt Forum. Take a peek at the search and be sure to look in the old posts. There's nuthin' that you'll run into with yer 'new' truck that someone else hasn't scratched his or her head about in the past.

Sorry about that...should have read the forum rules about picture posting.....they are change to links now.

The reason John and Peg ask us to post pics as links instead of inside the post is because many people who visit the stovebolt page are on a dial up connection, like myself.

Also, some folks over in Europe apparently get charged by the amount of stuff(that is everything you see here, the text, images, the little icons at the top) they download as they use the Internet.

Also, I think it affects how much bandwidth the stovebolt server is using, and since American Classic is nice enough to provide the connection for all of that, John and Peg are just trying to be 'good guests'.

So, they are just trying to make and keep the bolt acessible to as many people as possible... they love pictures more than anyone.

badtexz28 - that is a really cool truck! I dig it. The c60, is that a 2.5 ton ? Thanks for sharing the pics.

Thanks for all the kind words. Now if I can just get my wife to accept it...lol. To her, it has to look good. Bah whatever, i am going to flat black the truck and do pinstriping on it. Should make a killer tow rig.

On second thought, since the only Cummins ISX engine I can find is still 13K....maybe I will try to find a wrecked Dodge as a donor and take the 6B or maybe get lucky and get a 610.
