i got a call from a guy today who heard i like old trucks and has a 46-47 4400 for sale.my question is what should i know to look for in one, it runs and drives but needs clutch work. what is the average value of one (i know that is a loaded question),he is asking $1200. this is a little "early" for me as i am pretty familar with 47-55 trucks.don't know about a title, however in ga. a bill of sale is all that is required to tag and insure.
give me some food for thought(i know,i know ,thought went out the window with the 5th truck that i brought home  grin )thanks for your reply.

One of the things ive noticed is on the back of the cab, its made from 2 seperate pieces of sheetmetal so give a little push under the rib to see how solid it is.

They pretty much have the same issues as to where the rusty spots are, except the rockers have always looked great in those Ive seen. Also check where the fenders bolt to the running boards to make sure its all there.

Depending on the condition Id think 1200 is ok if its straight and solid, but I always let people know right away that Im gonna argue price grin ,its more fun that way!

Good luck! Jeff

Pay what you feel is OK. Not much good resale on the big bolts, keep that in mind. 1/2 tons sell right away, parts all over, but big rigs are harder to find the basic stuff. SO, no one likes to pay much for one. Most big rigs I have brought home all need brakes. A clutch isn't hard to do, but will need grunt to drop trans down to get it out. Tires and wheels is second hardest items to replace if you want newer styles.
