I'm looking for a picture and/or information on how the kick panels are attached on a 1940 Chevy PU.

If you have measurements that I could use to make my own, I would appreciate it.

Here are some photos that might help. I’m unable to provide measurements for the fiber board panel without disassembly from my truck. The Master Parts Catalogs, 1929-1942 and 1929-1946, photos shown in the attached, indicate in the parts list, not shown, that these panels were the same for trucks produced from 1939-1946. These references also seem to indicate the retainer hardware was also the same for those years of production.

What holds it at the bottom?

Nothing. There are two small metal pieces (tabs) that stick up from one of the parts of the floor board just below and other above the dimmer switch. The tabs are a bit less than 2 inches long, 1/4” wide and stick up about 1/4”. They don’t touch the fiberboard panel and seems to only limit the panel movement on the bottom end. The only fasteners I’m aware of are clutch screws that hold the panel retainer to the door frame, as shown in the photo above.

Some of the parts vendors might sell the fiberboard panels?
