Hi I’m looking for some plans to build running board brackets. These are to fit a 3100 1950 Chev truck mounted on a 2000 GMC Jimmy frame. So looking for distances from frame out and what they can be made from. Any ideas or help greatly appreciated.
Your best resource would be the Factory Assembly Manual. Section 2, Sheet 2.00 has dimensions of the holes for the running board brackets relative to the frame centerline and the top of frame. For material, I'd probably select c-channel, maybe 1-1/2" wide across the web.

True, but you must have missed the part where he's putting them on a 2000 GMC Jimmy frame. He'd have to adapt them anyway, and $400 plus shipping is a LOT to spend for raw materials.

I have the originals but they would need modification because the original frame differs in width from front to back. Or am I wrong on this point. The donor frame is straight. I thought someone might have made a set to fit the new frame and have some measurements, mostly for the in out, the bracket that the running board would sit on.
Did you look at the FAM page I referenced? It wouldn't be that hard to construct a set from channel iron. The stock frame does taper (wider toward the back). You might be able to construct some brackets to bolt the originals onto, but you'll still need the dimensions to get them in the right place. I don't know of anything that would be ready made to fit your donor frame.

I would build a rack to support the running board in the proper position between the front and rear fenders, then fabricate the brackets to match the bolt locations at the bottom of the running boards (they are a bit wonky), and where they need to attach to the frame.

That's an excellent idea. It would take a lot of the guesswork out of fabbing brackets.

Check out Code 504 s10 conversion. It includes running board. You can look at the kit contents to get an idea. They also have step by step videos that include running board install. I can send pics of mine too along with how to install them. Let me know.

On S10 conversions we make up running board brackets using 1 1/4 x 3/16 wall square tubing. Plenty strong and easy to fab. Shown is a rear one that has the bottom corner angle cut to clear the front of the rear spring bracket (cardboard). The outer mount hole is slotted to where the bolt can slide into place when already installed in the RB.
