New post with info:

April 29th. 10ish to 4ish or when ever. Come one and all. C10 meet and greet. Please state here if you're attending and how many.

I will have the following:

1. Simple Drinks
2. Basic grilling items
3. Lots of lawn and lawn games for kids/grandkids. Have walking trails that go out to a old beaver pond. My 10 and 12 year olds can be great tour guides of the property.
4. Garage and tools for emergency repairs. If rainy we can throw some inside to be able to look at them.
5. A father in law who worked his whole career in auto industry as a Mechanical Engineer 60's to 2003. I think he will be excited to see some of these rigs.
6. A deck for enjoying the weather and sun.

If you want to bring special things for the grill please do. Just offering up a space for a gathering. I will do my best to not put people to work on my truck as it will still be in pieces.

Hey Hambone and Ferris. I may be tied up with family but going to pencil this in and try to get down your way. Got a question: anyone there or coming that can help me do a first start on a GMC 228, or 270 and help me wire it up, install some temporary gauges, and see if we can get a first start? I may be able to bring the 270 down with battery and everything we need on a trailer. Not sure if it’s worth all of the work to haul one or the other there… but it might prove to be a good gathering project.

Helps me understand how to do things correctly when I have some in-person guidance and it would be fun.

PM me, give me your thoughts, let me know if this is “too much” for the gathering or if it would add value. I certainly don’t want to complicate the event, and what you describe sounds perfect too. -Tom

Tom, although I will not be there (distance), the first start demo is a great idea!
Bet you cannot not keep Hambone away from it!

As of right now only Hambone has said he will be here. I am completely game to have a working gathering whether it be mine or someone elses.

I have space and tools to get something like that done. Not 100 percent knowledge, but I watch allot of VGG and bet we can figure it out.

Ok. Will play it by ear. It’s vacation week - and we may road trip to Williamsburg…and visit some woodshop friends down there - but not sure yet. I want to continue with 6V and GMC’s we’re positive ground. Thanks, Ferris.

Tom.

Whence it relates to engine starts I am the guy that heckles the guy that is doing all the work. It's a fun event for sure and as 2-ton suggests I usually will get my hands dirty, just need to look to someone else that tells me what to do.

I am also a bit confused. I suspect the 2 threads were linked and title changed. Not sure how to set that straight. Maybe Peggy can jump on and unweave the threads.

Ferris confirm the Apr Date (which I think I know but don't want to be wrong).

Edit by Peggy M (who messed this up to start with nono ) - 4/18 pm: I deleted the stuff I thought was wrong. Whatever needs to be re-stated, I promise to only look ... READ ONLY FOR PEGGY! dang

Hey guys. I sent a note here describing my intent - but it’s gone. Ferris: I didn’t read The other post that you sent listing the tasks you want to complete on your truck.

That makes more sense than me bringing down an engine or two for a first start. Let’s focus on what you need to get done. My stuff can wait.

To confirm : it’s the 29th at your place. Send a PM with your address. Mark Small may show (after reading his note). Been meaning to drive up to northern Maine to meet him.

Will do my best to show- May be in Virginia that weekend but those plans aren’t firm.

Thanks. Tom

Tom,

You are very welcome to bring your rig down. Day does not need to be a work day for me. Don't want to make people not come back. smile

I will always have a list of things to get done on mine for another year I bet.

More the merrier far as I am concerned. Like I said we are spouse, kid, and dog friendly.here.

Ferris: are you all set for tomorrow? Let me know what you need to keep Hambone fed and dehydrated. Between the two of us, I’m sure we can manage that task in shifts. Let me know if you need anything.

I am going to have some dogs and burgers to grill. I have Pepsi and propell for drinks. If you want something harder you will have to bring it. I have a bag of chips and dip as well.

I got the lawn mowed today incase kids or grand kids are in tow.

I'll take a winning PowerBar ticket if you can muster one up.

A photo showing Hambone (L) and Ferris Bueller (R) fitting and problem solving a fender while checking the door gap. It appeared that hanging these doors on this early 60’s cab is more streamlined than fitting doors on the Advance Design cabs. Design and assembly modifications continued at GM.

In general, fitting fenders is not a one time shot. Aftermarket parts fitted to an OEM cab requires a lot of tweaking and fitment, for example; moving inner fenders and the radiator surround, aligning bolt holes, checking overall fitment, stepping back and re-doing this effort multiple times. Yet, sometimes a 4x4, big man, and strong arms are needed to make the final adjustments and a prerequisite to land the door fitting job in the factory.

Patience is a virtue but well worth it in the end.

As an aside it was nice to meet Kevin and Mark and observe their experience and expertise on fitment and problem solving. .. great guys and outstanding project. Mark is doing a great job on his truck…WOW!

Well we had a nice day. The "minor resto" (as if) of Mark's 66 C10 is coming along nicely as evidenced by first fit try of door-fender. Step indicates the end is nearer then the beginning. Thanks for letting me near the new paint to lend a hand on trailing arm adjustment and fitment of doors and fenders. Thanks for the gathering and the fellowship. I learned a few things as we know and spent the day with my fellow NH / NE like minded gents.

I'll be happy to confirm those suspicions. But don't sell yourself short, 'Bone -- you have LOTS of loose screws.

Glad you guys had a good time. Be sure to do a writeup with lots of pics in your forum! (if you haven't already ....)

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. You should see his elbows too. I’ve never seen a guy with elbows like that. Best joints I’ve ever seen in my entire life. And believe me, I have seen a lot in my day.
