The six cyl block casting number is - 3836848.
So far, I have not been able find it on any ref sheets online.
The flat surface behind the distributor base reads - 0064735F55X
Can anybody help me out with these numbers?

The block casting will be near the starter, or behind it. For a '55 it may start with "CON", then there is a stamped number right behind the distributor. Good luck. | | |

Tha stamped number by the distributor is interesting. I thought they stopped 1st series production in March of 1955 but the motor stamp is dated June. Anyone have any ideas?
I'll post the block number tomorrow when I find it.
In case you can't tell this is my first attempt at refurbishing an old truck. I'm starting at zero and have a lot to learn.

The head number is also a later part, from '56 on I've been told. Your truck may have had an engine swap somewhere in it's history. The "848" head has higher compression than the "913" head that was on earlier models. I have a '55 here with a "913" head on it but I also have a '56 here also with a "913". Then I have a '58 motor with an "848" head mounted on it. Go figure and good luck. | | |

I have the original title and the serial number listed on it, is the same number that is stamped near the distributor. So I think the block is probably the original one. Someone could have swapped heads on it.
I have a lot to learn about these things and with so many variables it sure keeps it challenging.
