I took my truck apart in 2006 and have lost about 1000 pictures after an iMac ate it!! Always meant to back them up, lol

Anyways, does anyone have a picture of how the interior windshield trim pieces all tie together? And is this bar in the centre removable? It appears to be spot welded

Thanks again guys
Paul

The upper two pieces in your first pic go underneath the vertical center bar and over the two halves of the windshield trim. They are held in place by the screws going thru the center bar trim and into the external center bar, which has female threads in it. I don't recognize the lower piece in your first pic. Unfortunately the FAM illustrates the 54 single piece windshield, so no help there.

That center bar that''s welded in place doesn't get removed. The holes in it line up with the outer and inner trim pieces.

Thanks for the reply, I’m going to expand on my question about the centre bar, there are 2 pieces correct? The support bar is arc welded to the frame and the interior trim piece that the upper and lower “tab” pieces tuck into its spot welded to the support bar? I ask because I’ve seen a couple YouTube videos where the trim bar comes off as the outer stainless bar retainer screws are removed and I have a spare trim bar laying around that I was going to get nickel plated but I don’t want to drill out spot welds if I don’t have to

The inner trim piece and the outer trim piece are separate from the support bar.

The "unidentified" trim piece is found in the early AD trucks; one was located at the top and one at the bottom of the interior windshield center divide. The photos show the upper and lower trim pieces on my '48 Chevy 1/2 ton truck.

The inner trim bar is a fairly thin sheet metal piece and is, like Mark said, separate. It has the sides bent over in a "u" shape towards the windshield, and is secured by oval head phillips machine screws that engage the threads on the external stainless trim piece.
Apparently the later trucks just use the flat tabs that are secured under the inner trim piece as that was all that were on my truck. There was no evidence of a screw hole like fonz8261's photos show in the center of those "unidentified" pieces.

Perhaps it can be chalked up to yet another anomaly of Canadian built trucks ?

The interior trim piece is most certainly spot welded to the centre support bar, seems a bit strange!!

HMM. Maybe someone did that later. ohwell

Those top and bottom pieces are supposed to go under the inside trim piece. Might be a little hard to get them installed with that trim piece fastened to the center bar.

Must be a Canadian thing, eh?
It shouldn't matter either way.

That is indeed a Canadian detail
I have a list of specific differences between USA and Canada trucks
And the center windshield welded is a known deviation.
The metal trim slides up under the welded part
It’s not ideal
(That’s all rattle can paint, I’m not proud lol)

What? Canadians are prone to lose parts that aren't welded on. wink

As I noted above it would make installing the top and bottom pieces more difficult as they have to be tucked underneath and the top and bottom screws installed thru them.

Interesting… my 49 3600 (Canuck built) does NOT have that piece welded it is separate.

As a matter of fact, klhansen… I LOST IT! True story. Not a joke.

Definitely more than enough play to slide them up and behind, I was hoping to get that Centre trim piece nickel plated along with the rest of the interior window trim pieces, windshield and side windows

Solution would be to drill out the spot welds, weld the holes up, and get that sucker nickel plated. Entirely doable.
