In the process of replacing my floor panels I eliminated the original gas pedal pivot bracket. Before I salvage it from my pile of removed scrap metal and try to determine how to connect it to my SBC Holley carburetor I am interested in what others have done.

If you stayed with the original pedal how did you connect the pedal to the carburetor/throttle body?

If you "upgraded" to a newer style pedal any insight regarding what worked for you in terms of pedal source and connection to the carburetor/throttle body would be appreciated.

Lokar makes some nice pedals and cables.

I used a Taskforce linkage and gas pedal (new from a common vendor) for my 350 in a 1949 and a 1952.
The Taskforce gas pedal attaches to the AD pedal bracket just fine. You need to be a little creative with the linkage mounting bracket (bend it here and there) on the firewall to make it fit.

I don't recall having any linkage bracket on the engine side of the firewall but my truck had been taken apart by others prior to my purchase and I did not pay a lot of attention to the engine related items when I took it apart because I knew I was planning to install a SBC.

I would go with the hanging pedal. Easier to deal with carpets and mats. Less tiring on the right leg on longer trips. Your SBC carb will be designed to work with a cable. My truck has the original pedal, but I used the hanging pedal on a previous project. I got the pedal and mounting parts from a donor car and the cable assembly from Lokar. Get the parts from a donor - should be cheap - maybe free if you are getting something else.

Dodge trucks(cars also probably) have suspended/cable fuel pedals too that could also be converted!

Thanks for the additional thoughts/options. It is tough time of year to wander around the one salvage yard I can still get into but once the weather breaks it sound like I need to plan a trip.

I much prefer the Ford hanging pedal and cable to carb set up as it takes a round (vs square) hole in the firewall and has an integral return spring. Here is a shot of the install plus a bonus shot of making a temp bulb fitting to use the factory temp gauge. This is on the popular S10 chassis conversion but works on many apps.

I used the lokar pedal. Works fine so far. I moved the master cylinder back to the frame (it had been moved to the firewall at some point).

I'm running a hanging Lokar (XSG-6016) with a Jegs generic throttle cable. No complaints

That Lokar looks nice but I am planning to see what I can find at the yard once the weather cooperates (like 2 or 3 months from now).

I made a bracket and used the pedal from the donor truck, an '88 GM. I did have to file the firewall hole square, and I still need to bend the pedal arm to move the pedal closer to the floor. I like how it works.
