Not sure where this question belongs, electrical, paint/body, general ᠁but here goes. Need to replace front parking light lenses or my 46 Dilemma is the existing lense is the 4” long style that in the catalogs should be on a 41/42 model. So that raises questions: Did someone install early lenses in the 46 housings( and would they actually fit) Are my housings proper for 1946 model year or are they from earlier Will the 46 short lenses fit what I have
The 4” long lenses are out of stock at both C-40’s and JC, short lenses available everywhere
A check of JC online does say that they are out of stock for the "1941" units that appear to match the longer lens that we can see in your truck pictures, and are listed being the same as "1940" Pontiac lenses (see details in the page): Jim Carter 1941 truck front marker light lens .
The pictured marker lens JC lists for 42-46 Chevy/GMC trucks 1942-46 Marker lens look close to yours but do not appear to match your pictured longer lights and probably won't fit your housings.
Very possible that at some point a previous owner could have replaced the '46 housings with the earlier ones, but don't think yours look out of place at all.

Have found a few things on my truck turning out to be from other model years (and I’m guilty of doing it too) so I just don’t assume what I have is year appropriate. Even when I look thru the gallery i see both types on 41-42 trucks᠁᠁and judging from the pix in the gallery it looks like the 46 short lense might fall short to completely fill the opening
Dan, Yes, I’m ok with the housings I have, even more art deco than the 46 version᠁can you have too much at deco on these trucks? I suppose you could, but not in this case.
Your truck has ‘41 parking light units- completely different from the ‘42-‘46 style that replaced yours. Apparently, someone changed yours at some point- for reasons unknown.
The ‘41 units, like yours, are an involved cast assembly made of of several parts. The bulb fixture is in the parking light assembly.
The ‘42-‘46 units are a simple stamped steel cover with a shorter lens. It covers a bulb holder that is part of the headlight can.
Unless you’re hung up on originality, the easiest thing would be to retain what you have. I hope this helps.
I think your first sentence there applies to most all of us. I know it does in my case - LOL!
As to having too much art deco on these truck, a big NOPE in my book too.
Hope you find what you are after!!!
