Background. In the mid 80s my father in law inherited a 1956 Chevy 3100. He did not transfer the title at that time. Later his house burnt down so there is no longer a title. The truck has sat for over 30 years and now we want to restore it.
The 11 digit vin and last license plate are still on the truck. The year it was last licensed is missing.
Anyone had any experience getting a title in Arkansas where the title was lost before it could be transferred?

Contact the titling entity in Arkansas and follow their instructions to the letter. Contact one of the companies specializing in vehicle titles and pay them to do the leg work. There is also the Bonded Title route handled by your attorney and a judge. Lastly there is what is called Title 42 in Oklahoma and I’m sure Arkansas has something similar. Good luck.

I had great success by taking the paperwork I had to the DMV and just explaining the situation to the person working the counter. They outlined several options for me and recommended a process that ended up being painless.
I had tried calling them and asking about it and the person on the phone was remarkably unhelpful.

My bet is a bonded title is going to be what the revenue dept. suggest. If the clerk doesn’t mention a BT, ask about one one.
And yes, in person is differently better. I’d call first and ask for the best day snd time. Small offices can get swamped at times.

After the first reply to my question I felt like an idiot, don’t know why I didn’t think of the obvious first place to go.. the DMV. I over complicated it in my head.
