Will a 1957 8 lug Chevy truck rear end fit a 1950 Chevy 3600 Truck? Little or no modifications? This would solve a brake upgrade problem and get a taller gearset for this truck. Thanks in advance for anyone's advice!

There would be no gain on the gear set as both the 50 and 57 are 3/4 ton vehicles and would have a 4.57:1 rear axle ratio.
Could be a brake upgrade but you would likely have to relocate the spring mount pads on the later rear end to match the 50.

Thanks for the info, Fred. The '57 rear turns just over 4 revolutions, assuming 4.11. My '50 is definitely 4.57. I could easily move the spring mount pads. Do you know if the '57 is the same width as the "50? Or super close? I can't get to the '57 to measure it as it's a distance away. Thanks!

If you measure your 1950 tire tread centers and compare it to the 1957 62.25" center of tire tread to center of tire tread you'll have your answer...I don't have info on the AD trucks...

You may have found something everyone is looking for. A 4.10 was an option in 67-72 3/4 ton trucks but not in a 57.
The center section may have been changed out using a later assembly. If so, go with it.

That 4.10 will give you a 10% reduction in engine speed at any MPH and a 10% reduction in acceleration.
