I climbed under to attach my new brake lines, but the diagram in my book doesn't include regular leaf AND overload leaf springs. Nothing I try makes sense, so I was hoping that someone else had applied new brake lines with overload leaf springs xand could advise me on over, under...

- '46 Chevy truck
- 1/2 ton
- Applying new rear brake lines with overload leaf springs
- Farm truck from Kansas in his past life, and I'm leaving him as-is.

Did the truck not have any brake lines installed when you got? Can you use the old ones as templates? Pictures before removal?

We did, but I failed to get a picture of the connection directly on the rear driver's side wheel. Ugh!

I guess you don't have any of the old lines left?

Hope these pix may be of some help in solving your problem (yes I shamelessly swiped your pics and marked them up a bit). grin

Of note is the absence of the brake line to brake wheel cylinder hardware (red arrow on book diagram pic) that plays a big part in connecting your brake line to the cylinder.

The brake line does not directly thread into the wheel cylinder in this instance like you see on more modern set-ups.

Helpful???

Let us know how it works out. After pictures would be great! thumbs_up

Otto - We kept everything for reference but, since my pictures don't quite catch the connection... I thought that I thought of everything.

Gdads - Thank you so much! We had just about narrowed it down to that, and then we had to get cleaned up because our kids were coming over. I really appreciate it!! Now I feel confident in connecting it all.

Happy New Year!!
