This switch must have been the On/Off Switch for my heater in my 1953 Chevrolet Panel Truck. Anyone else ever see this or have this Switch in their Chevy Panel Truck ? One wire (orange wire) comes out of the heater blower motor and was connected to this switch, and another wire is connected to this switch and goes up under the dash somewhere. I havent traced it down yet ,but I will tomorrow. Thanks for any help, Please.

A picture would help, but that sounds like just about any switch you can think of.

It's probably going up under the dash to the ignition switch for power when the key is in the "ON" position.

Does it look like this one?

Looks like an original/period correct switch to me...either a Delco-Remy or Arkles switch. Any info. anywhere on the switch? How about a picture of what is on the face of the white lever?

That’s similar to the switch in my gmc for the heater fan speed control, mounted under dash just left of steering column.
Wouldn’t suggest flipping it on unless you have a full PPE mask and goggles on, I got a cab full of dead mouse dust and field to my surprise that a 70 year old fan worked.
(Heater had been disconnected decades before I got the truck)

Deluxe heaters installed by the dealers came with those toggle switches.

Don't have a panel truck, but I did have a heater switch like that. It was broken, so I chucked it out and replaced it with a simple toggle. Maybe all you need is a good fuse.

Garageguy6078, does your switch have more than two positions? Does it just go click, or click-click-click? Or does it just go smoothly between upper and lower positions.
The resistor on the back leads me to believe it gave the heater more than one speed. Or if it works smoothly instead of clicking, it may be fully adjustable in fan speed.

You could check at the terminals with an ohmmeter while operating the switch. If the resistance changes in steps or varies between off and full on, that would be an adjustable speed switch.

My panel had a rheostat type switch that seemed to generate more heat than the heater.

I have one of those in my 47 panel. The switch has 4 positions. I would assume off, low, med and high. I say I assume because we're not to the point of installing that item yet. Rich

And that is a very common occurrence...which is why they had to set the coil of resistance wire in a ceramic molded tray.
