I thought it started as a factory installed option in 1958? It also mentions that the gear set used in the front axle is made by Chevrolet same as the rear axle.
Kicking self for selling off my Taskforce trucks.
Still looking for an LCF or conventional big bolt in decent shape.

| | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,270 Renaissance Man | | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,270 | 1957 Chevrolet trucks destined for the NAPCO installation came from the assembly line with a riveted on crossmember for the NAPCO crossmember. It also came with a 5600 pound gross weight designation on the ID plate on the cab.
As far as where the NAPCO kit was installed, I don't know.

The gear shift lever mounting plate/bracket was riveted to the frame at the factory...dealer installed units were bolted on. The transfer case is bolted to crossmember #2...this crossmember is riveted into the frame at the same place for both the two and four wheel drive units. Mike B  | | |
