New guy question. Piecing together and rebuilding 1955 235 for my 1955/2 shortbed pickup. I have an intake and exhaust manifold from a 1954. My understanding (to date) is that it is the same fit/function.
See attached photo and arrow pointing to "something". I wasn't able to locate what it might be in the 55-59 Assembly manual or 1955 shop manual. Maybe only on pre '54s? Your help/knowledge is appreciated.

Thanks,
-Mike

That is for a thermal spring that closes the flap valve when the engine warms up

The stud that the arrow points at is the attach point for the end of the manifold heat control thermostat spring.

Make sure and tighten the inter manifold bolts first before the head bolts!

Thanks. There is nothing left of the stud, so it will need to be replaced. Is it a screw in or press in and are they available? Things are in the tear down phase, so theses manifolds need to be disassembled, shot peened, studs replaced And ensure that the flap valve is in working order too,….before assembly. Thanks for the pointer on the inter manifold bolt tightening,…before installing.
