Have an original truck radio AD I think , plate on the case says model 986087 ca49 serial 61759 has a date line nothing on there. connected to 6 volt charger, no knobs but turned the on stem face lit up and hums like I remember 70 years or more years ago. looks clean inside,rectanguler buttons work says chevrolet on the face,single power wire with threaded bakelite fuse holder on the wire. Has a coax hole like a mid fifties car. Any ideas ?? Not gonna do any more to it till I hear more. mounting nuts and knobs are missing but will look one place for them.

Congratulations, that is the correct radio for a 1947 to 1953 Chev or GMC truck. It was made between 1947 and 1950. A newer model that looks almost identical when installed, was made from 1950 to 53 and either will fit all those years. You will notice that the rear cover is cut on an angle on the sides. It is often referred to as the "slant back" radio.

truckernix Thank you for the information,since it hums,lights up with no smoke using 6v battery charger could I try an attenna to see if it might pick up something ?? Push knob buttons are pretty furry but inside looks clean. don't want to damage it,paint is pretty good,brown .

Well the big risk of course is powering it up but I guess we have passed that point. If there is no humming from the vibrator, you won't be able to get anything else by testing. If it is humming then connecting an antenna may show some results.
