Pulled this engine out of 1954 1 1/2 ton I believe its a 235

Suggest you also get the cylinder head casting number, on intake side outside of the valve cover... I have 2 engines with casting number 3837004. Both are 235s, but I understand that this block could also have been used as a 261 in later years. The conv # indicates a casting date of Oct.18, 1956. You may have an error in reading the distributor pad stamped number... the T indicates Tonawanda engine plant, the A at the end indicates a 3 speed car engine originally. I suspect that the 2nd digit is not a T but a 1, so T1023A would be Tonawanda built Oct. 23 for a 3 speed passenger car. Others may correct me (okay) or have more info.

T = Tonawanda Engine Plant...Not sure why you show two "T"s
02 = Month (February)
3 = Day
A = Regular 235, passenger car

Lacking a serial number this engine had to be assembled in 1957.

Casting number 3837004 is a 235 block used from 1955-57
