Just curious if these shields are just to keep dust and dirt off the back half the engine and bell housing. Since I don't have the inner fenders on, not too sure how this compliments those. The driver's side was eaten up by rust and at first I thought of patching it, but decided just to make another one. While I was at it, I made one for the other side too.

They’re not going to keep dust off but will help keep mud from splashing up on the engine.

Nice job on the fabrication. thumbs_up

Thanks. They are not perfect, but I am pretty pleased with how they came out. I've been getting lots of tips on YouTube from Trevor Hatton, https://www.youtube.com/@trevsblog, and Karl Fisher, https://www.youtube.com/c/MakeItKustom/featured. They show you how to form with simple tools. I just used a post vise, hammers, and I do have a shrinker from Eastwood I've had for years and finally got to put it to use. that one bend on the upper lip needed shrinking to make the curve without a wave.

The original mounting was with rivets from the factory, but I'm just going to bolt them back on. I did rivet the bracket pieces. I couldn't see those pieces in the build books or parts book.

Super 55 In the olden days of gravel roads the mudholes could be so big and deep you had to hit em pretty hard to get thru, those shields would hopefully keep you from drouning out and keep cold mud water off of your hot manifold. I've seen them where when you opened the hood it would be packed full of snow level with the top of the valve cover. I think that was in blizzard of 78 in the midwest, froze 4 ft deep in places !!
