Dear fellow bolters,

I have some issues with my speedometer cable. Everytime I install a new speedometer cable, it snaps after a couple of weeks. I already changed the cable 3 times (quite expensive) and after a couple of drives it breaks at the transmission.
Most of the time, before it snaps, the speedometer will tick and the needle goes up and down. Does somebody have any idea what could cause the breakage?

Greetings from the Netherlands,

Thijs

Have you filled the oiler of the speedo with oil? If it is dry, this can happen.

green51 chevy Important to lube the cable and no sharp turns to bind it. Don't know about any oiler on chevies, also may be too tight at the speedometer head . there was some comment about that a while back, just snug it up.
