I was talking with my Dad and he said that he drove a 55 when they were new and could cruise at 80+ empty. Will that axle fit under a 1950? | | | | | Joined: Jan 2006 Posts: 586 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2006 Posts: 586 | In order to do 80+ with a 55 GMC it would have to have an overdrive.Around here many NEW 50's era trucks were equipped with an after market three range Watson box(military surplus)to slow them down for loading in the fields.The top speed stayed the same in high range.
