If some one ordered a truck back in the 50's and wanted a certain color, and say there was an excess of another color, I wonder if they would just change the color for the order?
I'm not into my project far enough to know if something like that is the case or not. Most always the lower fire wall color is the correct color since not many want to go to the trouble to change that, other than the normal rattle can black that is seen alot.

Not sure I'm understanding your question. The firewall would always be body color, no matter what the color choice was. Are you saying that the factory said oops and painted the exterior of the cab a different color and left the firewall alone? I don't think that happened. I would guess that any truck that was painted a different color than the firewall would have been done after delivery.

I'm saying that most always the fire wall is the factory original body color, and that an average quick paint job that most folks would do that does not require complete tear down of the whole truck, would not paint the firewall.
I am finding other colors on this truck, I will know better after the front fenders are removed, and I can get a better look at the fire wall paint, it is a slightly different red shade, but what may be under it?

As you've said, I think you will learn much more once you pull the fenders off as far as what the original color might be. In my case the truck was a truck of many colors under the undercoating on the edges of the cowl and under the fenders was "ocean green" paint. You have pictures of the different shades of red?

Lighting is pretty bad right now to get good pics of different shades and colors found so far, will do when I can. Dusty53 if I remember right your truck has that very well reproduced interior color and low gloss?

The product was custom mixed by my local vendor. The non-gloss finish was recommended by an experienced paint and body guy to reduce glare. The paint is a single stage UTech U500 from Akzo-Nobel. Here's pics of label and interior.

The window frame trim on your truck is painted. Was stainless steel an extra cost option? Mine is shiny ss.

Yes I've noticed on many interiors that have tried to duplicate the factory paint are just way too shiny. Here is a photo of my sales regret truck, interior and notice the not so shiny paint, this truck was very stock except for that goofy holder on the steering column, easy remove.

Well, I like your truck exterior color and that interior is in very good condition compared to many I've seen.

Good question , pictures I've found show them painted. Even the deluxe cab option shows them the interior color. I know they can be bought aftermarket. Maybe someone else has better info.

Remember I no longer have this truck, and lately been pretty sad about it. This was saying good bye to it, the parts that were removed were to attack some rust just as a preservative measure not any sort of body work, just rust treatment.
Here is the reason I don't just jump on any modified or rusted junker that is advertised for sale. This truck was in no way a perfect show room floor truck, it had its issues, it was good example of factory stock.

Here is driving a TF frame that went the same day, its loaded with parts. The buyer got the best deal ever. He got all 3 trucks.

Here are photos of the new 55, showing the paint chipping off in areas so don't think the different colors are just a primer. Also the head light bucket paint looks original? They had crap rubber screwed to the step so it very nicely holds water there to help rust. Then you have to love the slotted screw for the bottom goofy 55 door hinge bolts, could they make it any more difficult?
The number 3 from left photo is between the front of bed and back of cab pealed paint on right side.

When I say headlight bucket paint looks original I mean the black paint, not the red over spray.

Non of the red on the headlight bucket is factory
The headlight bucket is installed after paint
Not a single truck I have has any body paint on that part

I'm sorry I should have said the black paint! I know the whole truck had a lazy paint job (meaning painting everything body color that is not supposed to be that) and that the buckets are black from the factory, I would have thought a satin or semi gloss black as this looks like gloss.
