They really seem to have flat spots and make a rough ride for longer than I care until the kind of round out and get better. Is there any way to reduce the initial flat spot problem? Thanks! | | | | | Joined: Oct 2021 Posts: 6,926 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2021 Posts: 6,926 | Install radial tires or keep all four wheels off the ground while the truck is parked. Make sure they're not low on air.
Unless you're driving the car every day or two you are going to have flat spots with bias ply tires.

Don't know about now but some years ago that is all back yard week end racers wanted for tires, radials have no side wall strength and squirm, and make hard cornering difficult.
Kicking self for selling off my Taskforce trucks. Still looking for an LCF or conventional big bolt in decent shape.

I think that nylon cord was the problem, but was resolved when the manufacturers went to polyester cord as well as steel belting under the tread. I'm no tire expert, but if your tires are that old, they probably need to be changed out for safety anyway.

Next time you come home from a 20-30 mile run that gets the tires warm immediately jack the truck up and check the tire for being round. If they are not round you need to find a big old truck tire shop that still has a tire shaver that can cut the tire round...the process is done with the tires still mounted on the truck.
