Basically the thread title I have a 67 c50 that I am in the process of putting on the road and the rear wheels are rh5 widow makers. Has anyone ever swapped the hubs on them I am pretty sure the front the drum is one wth the it could I have a new bolt pattern drilled into the fronts so I could mount cheap mil surplus tires instead of spending 1900 bucks on rims from wheels now and if it would be possible to swap new ones on the rear

There are 10 on 8.750” 22.5” wheels out there. I found some, drilled them to 10 on 7.25” bolt pattern for my ‘55 GMC. LH wheel in picture.

Hit the local scrap yards, old big truck shops, or farms around you and look for original GM 2 piece ring lock wheels or 3 piece wheels in the same bolt pattern. They can be had for cheap ($400 for all 6 of mine) and then you aren't worrying about hub swapping. They aren't as easy to find, but they are still out there.

If you are dead set on getting away from this bolt pattern and don't want to spend more than what the truck is worth, then hit the local scrap yards and axle swap the truck to different axles with the desired hubs. It will be infinitely cheaper than purchasing all new wheels. Frame width is pretty uniform across manufacturers so other than brakes, it is pretty much plug and play.

I've been looking for some 10 X 8.75 bolt pattern wheel center discs for a garden tractor project I'm working on for quite some time. Before you trash those widowmakers, please contact me about salvaging the centers. Once you make 3 more posts, you'll have access to the private message function of the forum. Thanks!

This is the route I am currently thinking is buying a truck with Dayton's or normal wheels and using that to make 2 trucks I have found a couple not in roadworthy condition and I am hoping to make 1 out of 2 trucks

I will let you know hotrod lincoln once I figure something out I have found a junkyard that has a bus from the same gen and a truck for sale that has 22.5 wheels just trying to save up enough cash to actually get the other truck or find time to go the junkyard which seems to only be open till 4 and closed weekends so might have to wait till Christmas break
