I bought a new paint gun its the accuspray 26580. I have 5 liners and 5 lids. i thought lids and liners would be easy to get but every place around here says they have to order them. I am using mastercoat paint and primer. I need to put on 2 coats of primer and 2 coats of paint . im thinking with each coat i would use 1 liner and 1 lid. if that is not correct please let me know. I never used this type of gun and i am very worried about it. my frame is supposed to be sand blasted today so im hopeing to do the paint work tomorrow. the primer needs 3 hours between coats to dry and i was planing on the first coat around 9am the instructions say it can be sprayed as low as 40 degrees according to the weather forcast it should be 52 degrees at 9am. If anyone has any tips please let me know as always thanks for any help.

3 HOURS BETWEEN COATS?!?!?! Holy smokes!! That's crazy talk! Last primer coat I did was 5-10 minutes between coats. 15-20 for epoxy!

Looks like the cups you are using are the PPS 2 series. Probably a 3M deal only. The PPS 1 series seems to be copied by everyone and are easy to get cups and lids. I just got another kit of 650 ml cups and added an 850 ml kit as I had some decent size panels to spray on my Suburban.

I have reused liners and lids before. But the real beauty is having enough cups, liners, lids and locking collars to mix up a few cups worth, depending on needs, and spraying one, then, when used up, popping another mixed cup on the gun and continuing where you left off right. Then, when done coating stuff, just throw away the liner and lid, clean your gun and watch the paint dry.

Best thing you did was read what the manufacture recommended for the paint you are using. That puts you miles ahead of most people. Have a place to test your spray pattern, piece of cardboard, etc, before you actually apply it to the frame. Hit all the hard to reach places first. Be aware of your hose and body parts so you don't rub the area where you just laid down that nice coat of paint. Don't worry about mistakes, they can all be fixed.

If things start getting weird on you, stop. Figure out why. Is the gun sputtering because the air compressor not keeping up? Is all my compressor moisture trapped or am I spraying water with the product causing immediate fish eyes?

Having some degreaser or wax remover around will be helpful for when that freshly sandblasted frame is manhandled with bare hands. As they say, prep is everything! Oh yeah, make sure you have a proper mask and it seals to your face well. You only have one set of lungs. I'm sure I can think of a ton of other things, but lunch break is over and I gotta get back to work.

Lots of PPS2 lids & liners on Amazon as well as some PPS1 stuff.
I have that gun (although it came with PPS1 nozzles, cups and liners) and it's been working well for me. I agree with Mark that 3 hours between coats is a long time. But depending on pot life of your epoxy, you can put a plug on the lid and stand it upside down so the filter is wet, and reuse what's left in the cup. Definitely clean the nozzle immediately after use, or you'll be tossing it in the trash. They can be reused quite a few times. I tried to reuse a liner and lid once and made a giant mess, so haven't tried that again. Having at least two outside cups is nearly essential, so you don't have to stop and remix in the middle of a job. I have 6 of the standard size PPS1 cup and locking ring, and have another mini size set coming today (those are real cute, but handy for small jobs.)

Mark's suggestions are right on. The 3M half mask (or even better the full face mask, assuming you don't wear glasses that would impede the seal) works well with VOC filters. Keep the filters in a plastic bag between uses, and they'll last longer. If you start to smell paint with the mask on, either the seal to your face is bad or the filters are used up.

FYI, you can get PPS1 nozzles that will fit your gun and go with the PPS1 lids and liners.

I had 1 problem with the gun I was spraying primer and the gun acted like it was out of paint I went in the garage to add more paint and it was only half empty i filled it up and started spraying again a short time later acting like no paint i broke the seal on the paint canister on the gun and it was good for a while what am i doing wrong. hopefully i can add these pictures this frame is for my daughters hot rod 41 chevy coe

Nice job. thumbs_up

On the gun, I've had some issues getting the last little bit out of the cup. Holding the gun vertically with a little shake usually fixes that. Holding the gun upside down initially while pulling the trigger till it sprays paint helps in getting all the air out by collapsing the liner. Once that's done it should spray in any position.
