For helping keep this great

on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 13 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: May 2006 Posts: 13 | The tires on my truck, 1933 Chevy 1.5 Ton, read "30 x 5 heavy duty 8 ply". I cant find a reference to this size tire on any of the antique tire websites. Any help is appreciated. I need seven.... dual rears, fronts, and a spare.

Are they 20 inch rims with 5 inch tires? | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 261 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 261 | Chevy rims for trucks 1931 -1934 were 20in. x 5 in wide. They had a split ring to hold tire on. That was the normal production rim unless you ordered optional tires that held more weight then you could get a 20 in. x 6 in. rim. Tires are available from Cooker, Miller and other vendors just order 600 x 20 tire and tubes with angled metal valve stems. Also order flaps (gutter guards).

Any suggestions on sources for a rebuild kit for the 207....mine smokes bad. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,029 Member | | Member Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 1,029 | If it just smokes, you may not need a complete rebuild, especially if it sat for several years. Usually the babbit starts to pound before the engine smokes when a rebuild is needed. You may only need to clean up the ring grooves and replace the rings if your bore is within specs. Sometimes running the engine regularly, along with frequent oil changes will free the rings up. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 261 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 261 | Bruce Bugay in Glen Allen, VA 23059 Phone 804-752-6036 should be able to help you with engine parts.
