Robert,

Me thinks that falls into the "I just couldn't help myself!" category. yahoo

Lots of others have taken the plunge (not gone that way myself) and am sure they are willing to help/share experiences to solve any issues you come upon.

I see it has the cable type throttle, a FiTech, and March like billet brackets so you're ahead of the game. For an AD install lose the factory type T-stat housing and use a non angled one. The instant start, baby butt smooth idle, 300k mile lifetime, five times the hp and torque, and 20 plus mpg are all different which you'll get used to it but if you die the undertaker won't be able to get the smile off your face.

I got a killer deal on it so I just couldn’t pass it up! I stumbled across it on Facebook Marketplace. The previous owner bought it from the Hot Rod Engine Company out of Seattle a few years ago and never installed it. He said he’d changed his mind and was going with a stroker instead. It was still wrapped on the pallet when I picked it up. It’s a 6.0 with a stage 3 cam rated at 500+ hp. I got it for a fraction of what he paid for it and couldn’t be happier! I started it on the stand and it sounds wicked! 😱

I put a bone stock 50k mile 4.8 in my 51. It’s coupled with a SM319 three speed ( wanted to keep the column shift). 22 mpg at 75 in the interstate. Starts with ease at any temperature!

Are you going with automatic or manual?

I sat it in the engine bay over the weekend. The only hiccup I see at the moment is that the ac idler arm hits the line on the power steering rack.

I ended up getting the Holley system. It pulls everything in nice & tight & all the accessories are more easily accessible.

I am actively looking to purchase an LS engine to drop into my 1986 Chevy pickup. (Lots of reasons, mostly valid ones) I'm using my truck for towing, mostly, and as a spare vehicle. Thinking of a 5.3, not sure even what questions to ask.

Will that power plant necessitate frame reinforcement?

What are you using for an air filter? It looks like the intake is routed into the inner fender. Is the filter up inside there?

Hey John! It's been awhile but good to hear from you. These pic's popped up on my FB timeline from 10 years ago! I'm still not ready for the road just yet. I got a wild hair a few years ago to shorten the bed and that led to a host of other mods including the LS. I didn't think it would take as long as it has but a couple of bouts with cancer and life in general slowed progress. We need to have another get together soon!

Your truck was awesome 10 years ago. So glad to hear that you're still at it.
We will be looking forward to seeing you and your truck real soon.
