I have these tabs that are on the stake side holes on the truck bed I thought somebody just welded them on, but I noticed a 53 1/2 ton at a car show that have those same tabs too, but are bent down,are these stock or what?
Those are stock, but are supposed to be bent down vertically so you can put a piece of wood (stake) for extending the bed sides, or whatever. There should also be a stop about half way down the stake pocket and bolt holes front to back to secure that stake if you used one.

Very interesting, the factory did a shotty job of welding, or maybe they have been rewelded over the years. I guess when the tabs are bent down, they would put tension on the stake and keep it from wobbling so much. Thanks for the info
I believe those tabs were stamped out with the bed sides in one piece, then the tab bent down. Probably some previous owner did the welding on them.
